A healthy alternative to butter when baking
We are all likely to splurge on tempting cakes and deserts every now and then, but using Extra Virgin Olive Oil instead of butter can make your next treat not such a guilty pleasure after all. The Heart Foundation has suggested swapping butter that is full of saturated fat with little nutritional value, to healthy oils such as Olive Oil when baking and cooking.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil is very low in saturated fat, will add antioxidants to your dish that help protect our cells and contains Vitamin A which can keep your baked goods moist and fresher for longer. It’s easy, just use the simple conversion chart below next time you are baking! Use Pendleton Olive Estate Mild Extra Virgin Olive Oil for a milder flavour or use our Vanilla Olive Oil which is perfect for baked goodies. Handy tip – you can prepare your pans and baking dishes with olive oil. Just simply coat the pan with olive oil rather than butter or when a recipe calls for buttering and dusting the pan with flour, simply brush with olive oil and then dust with the flour. Why not prepare with our Vanilla Olive Oil to add that extra aroma and goodness to your baked treats. We’d love to hear your feedback on using Extra Virgin Olive Oil in your favourite dish.
